New Attitude
It was much too beautiful to stay inside yesterday so we decided to enjoy a beer and lunch at our local brewery - Long Trail. The building itself is similar in design to the Hofbrau House in Munich Germany. It's a unique blend of industrial design and the comforts of down-home. Beer and food are plentiful and Long Trail is Vermont's #1 selling craft-brewed beer. The atmosphere is lively and friendly. They are open for lunch only - hours are from 11am to 6pm. Dining can be enjoyed outdoors on the deck which offers beautiful views of the Ottaquechee River. In cooler weather diners enjoy the comfort of a cast iron woodstove. Yesterday, David enjoyed their special brew of Triple Bag and I enjoyed their Coffee Stout, also a limited brew. Both were outstanding. Another great lunch spot is the White Cottage, located a few miles west of Woodstock Village. They offer outside dining and takeout. Their picnic area sits alongside the Ottaquechee River and offers a lovely setting. They are closed right now but will re-open in May for the summer/fall season. When you're in Vermont, be sure to visit the White Cottage and "take a hike" over to Long Trail. See you in the spring!
