Artisan Design, Award-winning Cuisine in a Truly Stunning Setting and a Life Well Lived
The Story behind the Man, His Glass, His Pottery, His Cuisine
It’s solid yet graceful—functional yet beautiful. It’s not flashy—it’s built for the long haul
Simon Pearce is a Quechee, Vermont company that has a reputation for quality handmade glass and pottery sold in hundreds of stores nationwide. In the age of bigger, better, faster, they believe simplicity, quality and artisan-ship are tenets of a better way of life. From their hand-thrown pottery to their lead-free crystal glassware, made with custom molds and purpose-built furnaces, each handcrafted piece carries a story that lends meaning, authenticity and grace to every use. From their heritage of craftsmanship to design that’s meant to last for generations, everything they do is in service of creating a special table to gather with the people you love. These moments of togetherness are what inspire them. Watch handmade pieces come to life in their Vermont workshop, experience them in use at their iconic restaurant and bring the inspiration home with you.
Simon Pearce is also a Quechee, Vermont restaurant and was voted one of “America’s Most Romantic Restaurants” by Travel and Leisure and recipient of the Wine Spectator “Best of Award of Excellence”. Using fresh local ingredients, thoughtfully prepared creative American cuisine is served with the backdrop of the Ottauquechee River waterfall and covered bridge. With attentive, unpretentious staff, the restaurant has become a beloved go-to for special occasions and casual lunch get-togethers. Dining at the Mill is the perfect way to experience Simon Pearce’s handmade glassware and pottery after watching it come to life at the on-site workshop.
Simon Pearce has a private dining room called The Loft. Guests work together with their talented chef to customize a menu with wine and beverage pairings to create a memorable special occasion.
Simon Pearce has a new way to unwind. The Bar at Simon Pearce features local beer, handcrafted cocktails, a full wine list and is a perfect place to enjoy picturesque surroundings and catch up over inspired small plates. Best part (well, almost) - all this is only 1.5 miles from our Inn!
Simon Pearce is also a person. Growing up in Ireland with a family of artisans, attention to detail and aesthetics were part of his everyday experience. At age 16, Simon began his craft as an apprentice at his father’s pottery studio. From there, he went on to work with notable glass-makers all over Europe before opening his namesake studio. Inspired by centuries-old Georgian glass-making techniques and using the finest natural materials, Simon set out to create designs that bring pleasure and inspiration with every use, every day.
Kevin Pearce, Simon’s son, suffered a near fatal traumatic brain injury (TBI) while training for the 2010 winter Olympics. Kevin’s remarkable resilience was documented in the award winning HBO film, “The Crash Reel,” which brought to light the hardship and trans-formative power of traumatic brain injuries. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, generating a significant platform for Kevin to educate the world about the importance of loving your brain. The experience can be debilitating. For many brain injury survivors, being a part of a supportive community that both understands and responds to the challenges of living with an invisible injury is limited. In 2014, Kevin, alongside his brother, Adam, started the LoveYourBrain Foundation which aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury and raise awareness about the importance of brain health. Simon Pearce donates 20% of sales from their LoveYourBrain glass collection to support LoveYourBrain’s efforts to implement programs designed to build community, foster resilience, and help people understand the importance of loving their brain.
